Michal Lučanský
Nature & Wildlife Photographer
He has been devoted to photography since 2012.
The impulse to photograph nature came from observing the common kingfisher and the desire to capture those moments. Through his photography he strives to promote nature and motivate people to protect it. His favourite subjects are reptiles and amphibians. Popularising this group of animals should help break down people's prejudices against them and show their irreplaceable role in nature, even in close proximity to humans. Besides reptiles, he also takes part in monitoring large carnivores and birds of prey in cooperation with experts from Slovakia.
In his work he tries to break away from the classical approach to photography by using various unconventional techniques. This is how photographs of nocturnal animals, or of animals living underwater, come to life. He began his photographic journey with Sony equipment and later switched to Canon. After a two-year break from photography he returned to Sony, moving from DSLRs to mirrorless cameras.
It began with a kingfisher.
